Sea Change is the eighth studio album by American alternative rock artist Beck and was released in September 2002. Inspired by the dissolution of a relationship, Sea Change received glowing reviews upon its release. Sea Change made it on almost every "album of the decade" lists.

At Dawn is the second album from My Morning Jacket. The record is a turning point for the band by both building upon and expanding their sound, most notably with the addition of a keyboardist (Danny Cash, now departed) and the longer length of most tracks. If your looking for the perfect album to fall asleep to look no further.
Released: October 2, 2007

Ryan Bingham has to have one of the best voices for country/folk music today. This album isnt the typical "country" music out today that's being played on pop radio. Its authentic in the sens that it pays tribute to true country music. Bingham might look familiar to anyone who has seen the movie "Crazy Heart". Bingham wrote many of the songs for the movie and songs on some, he also appears in the movie.
Speaking of "Crazy heart"....
Suggest you pick up this album while your at it. Songs on the album are performed by the actors in the movie; Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell. Other songs are performed by Ryan Bingham and a few country legends.
"Freelance Whales found one another in late 2008, in Queens, amidst a strange amalgam of unfamiliar instruments, and precariously arranged pop songs. Using whatever musical gadgets they happened upon (mostly harmonium, banjo, glockenspiel, synthesizers, guitars, bass, drums, waterphone), the five members worked at crafting songs with interlocking rhythmic patterns, lush textural layering, and an engaged group-vocal energy. The result is their debut LP, weathervanes, whose songs work at evoking a sense of dislocation, or sensory disorientation. They invite the human spirit to exit the body, if only for brief moments. Freelance Whales can be spotted in the streets and humble venues of New York City, and in due time, elsewhere."
Hey everyone i apologize for not posting much the last little while. I have been extremely busy and have been unable to. The upside to this is i have come across almost a dozen good albums aswell as some good videos/singes and bands. I promise i will post all of them later this week.
But until then i have posted two Broken Social Scene related stories below.
I would say that my favorite female musician out there today would hands down have to be Fiest. Amazing lyrics and a amazing voice. Here is a video post of her new song "He Was Free". There is yet to be a release date on her new album or even a title but i hope it comes out soon.
Head over to Broken Social Scenes website and download "World Sick"

I will let mark Hoppus take this one...
THE BASICS:
This Irish trio eschews a traditional rhythm section for digital loops on their debut album, Tourist History, which just came out in the U.K. -- and will see a U.S. release later in 2010. The resulting sound possesses the angular guitar thrash of Bloc Party paired with the synthetic grooves of the Postal Service. That latter reference is further bolstered by frontman Alex Trimble's voice, which occasionally bears quite a resemblance to Ben Gibbard's. The band also plays the remix game, contributing a version of Phoenix's "Lasso" to the French outfit's recent remixes collection.
WHERE HOPP HEARD THEM FIRST:
"A package arrived from Glassnote Records. Inside were a bunch of goodies, including this CD. I put it in the player for the drive home from the studio and fell in love by the time the first chorus hit."
WHY THEY ROCK:
"Dance-y, frenetic indie rock. Driving drums, scratchy infectious guitar noodles, and some damn fine singing. If you can imagine Death Cab for Cutie meets Jon Brion's 'I Believe She's Lying,' then you're starting to get the idea. Hyper, all over the place, and amazing."
HOPP'S TOP TRACK:
"I'll have to go with the track that hit me most the first time around. Anyway, 'Undercover Martyn' is the jam. My head bobs at the mere thought of it! One listen and the chorus was driven into my head for the rest of my life."
Some pretty cool Phoenix videos of them performing outside in their home town Paris

So i have been seeing the name "Free Energy" posted all over many music sites and being talked about many musicians. Free Energy is getting hyped so i wasn't sure what to expect, until i heard the song posted below. I am yet to get a copy of their self titled album but cannot wait.

Josh Ritter, who in my mind is one of the greatest lyricists out there today has a new album entitled "So Who Runs The World Anyways" set for May 4th. I strongly suggest if you havent heard his music go out and get "Animal Years" now. Or click this link to sample a new song off his new album
Mark Hoppus (Blink182, (+44)) currently has a new band called 10HRSattheMACHINE. On Marks Twitter page he posted this about the band " 10HRSattheMACHINE is not blink-182 nor solo project. It's something I'm doing with friends while Tom finishes his album. Then blink-182!!"
Here is a link he posted with him in the studio working on a 10HRSattheMACHINE song

Broken Bells is the self-titled debut album from James Mercer of "The Shins" and Danger Mouse of "Gnarls Barkley". I was surprised to see very little hype about this album. One would think that when two members of well known music acts come together people would be talking about it. Really the only news i heard surrounding this album was that after James Mercer finished with this album, he would go back into the studio with "The Shins". I will start off by saying i rather liked this album but it is far from amazing or best thing since sliced bread. What it is, is a good starting point for the band to grow with. The album had many bright moments, but not a cd you will listen to from start to finish every time. Thus leading me to believe their next album (if there is one) could be something very special.

Uffle? the hipster rapper? Has anyone ever heard of her? Up until this week neither did i. So i heard the song "Mc's Can Kiss" (posted below) and was absolutely shocked at how amazing the song was. This led me to do some research on her. So apparently she was supposed to be the next big thing a few years ago, and never lived up to that hype. Largely due to only put out a few EP's over the past few years and never put out a full length album. Well she has an album set to come out later this month, which i cannot wait to get my hands on. Lots of the songs are produced by "The Neptunes" which is safe to say if the lyrics arnt good (highly doubtful) at least we know there will be good beats on it.

First off i would say this album flew under the radar in 2009 for me. I got this album about a week ago and have been enjoying it ever since. Fans of Death Cab for Cutie or fans of Ben Gibbard be be prepared to fall in love with this album. To be honest the first time i heard a song from this album i thought it was yet another side project from Gibbard. When you look at the run time it hits just hits the 30 min mark. In today's music that's a pretty short album, but it works perfectly. With only having 11 songs you will enjoy all the songs, I know when i listen to it i dont skip any songs it gets played from start to finish.
Spinner Canada is currently streaming a new Jimi Hendrix song "Valleys of Neptune" of his unreleased album which is set to be released this year.
Possibly the best news of the day...Broken Social Scene will release their new album on May 4th of this year. It has been 2005 since their last release but in that time numerious members in BSS have released albums ie Fiest, Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning and many members have out out albums with their other bands; Stars, Metric the list goes on. While doing all of that it was pretty hard to get everyone in the studio to make another album, but they got it done. Also you would be suprised to hear that a bunch of new members have been added to Broken Social Scene on this album such as John McEntire, who plays in Tortoise and the Sea and Cake. Along with McEntire, Sea and Cake's Sam Prekop, Tortoise's Doug McCombs, Pavement's Spiral Stairs, former Death From Above 1979 singer-drummer Sebastien Grainger, Poi Dog Pondering's Susan Voelz, Helen Money's Alison Chesley, and the Weakerthans' Jason Tait can all be heard (somewhere) on the album.
So a while back i posted about the Frightened Rabbit. In that post i said how much i enjoyed their new song but still wasnt anticipating the album that much. Well seeing their new video for "Nothing Like You" the album as immediately jumped up to one of the most anticipated for me.

It has been about a year and a half since Butch Walker released his emotional and critically acclaimed fourth solo album "Sycamore Meadows"(in my top 3 of 2008). Its only fitting he picked up right where he left off. Each song draws you in with its great music accompanied by raw emotional lyrics. The thing you have to love about Butch is we all know he can write, record and produce with a variety of artists, but he always saves the best for himself and his fans. If you cannot wait a month for his album you can follow this LINK and listen to it.
So Jack White is one of my favorite musicians and probably one the greatest guitar player in music today (out of artists still putting out records) and versatile musicians. I cannot wait for these two beauties

I found this story to be pretty hilarious
Former Libertines frontman Pete Doherty was fined Wednesday for walking into a court last month with heroin in his pocket. Pete had been summoned to the court to be fined for careless driving, but as he was being escorted from the premises, security guards saw heroin fall from his pocket. Reports say he had 13 bags of heroin in his pocket... he said he just forgot.

In today's music it's extremely rare to find an album you can listen from start to finish but there is always an exception to the rule. The exception being Shout Out Louds new album Work. This ten track album will have you wanting a eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth track. After touring behind their previous record, "Our Ill Wills", the band went their separate ways. Singer/songwriter Adam Olenius penned many of the new songs while in Australia using only a small synthesizer, acoustic guitar, and Garageband on his laptop. The songs were then passed on to the others and the band collaborated until Work was complete. I know we are not even a month into 2010 but i gaurentee that this will make my top 3 if not top 10 list of 2010.
If you head over to Shout Out Louds Myspace page you can download a free copy of "Walls"

From my favorite EP of 2009 Cold War Kids "Audience"
Ontario's own Clothes Make The Man are back with their second LP release. As font man Ryan McLennan said when i saw them live "It was long over due" (Their first album was released on early 2007). In my opinion the long wait was well worth it for "Distance". Since their first self titled album i must say CMTM have progressed and expanded their sound. They range from catchy songs that make you want to stand up, rock out and clap your hands in "Alpha Centauri", to heavier rock anthems in "Cruisin'". With this album it only makes sense that CMTM should and will get the recognition they deserve for being one of the premiere bands in Ontario.
P.S If you have a chance to see this band live do yourself a favor and go see them. I have currently been to three CMTM shows and loved every minute of it. They all play with so much raw emotion and you can really tell these guys love what they are doing.
Currently you cannot buy their album online the only place you can get it right now is at CMTM concerts. Hopefully they will put it online soon for you all to purchase

I must say i have never really been a fan of Frightened Rabbits but when i heard their new single (posted below) i must say i was rather surprised and eager to hear this album. What grabbed my attention was that the song has a somewhat Modest Mouse sound to it. I still wouldnt place this album to high on my anticipated 2010 releases but never the less wouldn't mind hearing it sometime soon.
After a three year hiatus The Shout Out Louds are ready to realese their new album. Spin has a exclusive track from the album. Listen

If you follow my blog you will recognize this album from my top 10 list of 2009. Matt and Kim are a two piece band from Brooklyn NY who met at school in 2004. Since then they have released two albums "Matt and Kim" and "Grand". There is something to be said about a band who formed in 2004 not knowing how to play instruments and within a few years make the impact they have and continue to make. With only drums (Kim) and a keyboard (Matt) you just assume there is going to be catchy songs. Well your right everysong on the album is a catchy one. My favorite aspect of this album is Kim's ability to make her drum set her bitch by whaling on them throughout the whole album. Blink 182 bass player and singer Mark Hoppus is a large endorser of Matt and Kim. He put this album on his top albums of 2009 and this is one of the many things he said about the album "I love that it's kind of lo-fi, and shows they recorded it themselves. It's definitely not Dark Side of the Moon production. It sounds like two people having a great time recording in their apartment."

A new Motion City Soundtrack song entitled 'A Lifeless Ordinary (Need A Little Help' has been posted online. The song is taken from the band's upcoming release, My Dinosaur Life. Here

Today marks the 30th anniversary of The Clash's ground breaking London Calling Album. This album set the mold for "punk" music, many have tried to recreate it but cannot come close. Since its the 30th anniversary decided to post an orinigal review by TOM CARSON from Rolling Stone Magazine in 1980 in which he gave 4.5 stars out of 5
"By now, our expectations of the Clash might seem to have become inflated beyond any possibility of fulfillment. It's not simply that they're the greatest rock & roll band in the world–indeed, after years of watching too many superstars compromise, blow chances and sell out, being the greatest is just about synonymous with being the music's last hope. While the group itself resists such labels, they do tell you exactly how high the stakes are, and how urgent the need. The Clash got their start on the crest of what looked like a revolution, only to see the punk movement either smash up on its own violent momentum or be absorbed into the same corporate-rock machinery it had meant to destroy. Now, almost against their will, they're the only ones left"......Continue Reading
